[Collection of parliamentary and government papers], [ca. 1550-1636, copied ca. 1600-1640.].

Manuscript, in multiple hands, of a collection of 8 primarily political and government-related papers. Contents include copies of petitions to the Privy Council from a Devonshire merchant, dated 1550; a Privy Council letter to Sir Philip Hoby in 1550; a journal of the activities in the House of Commons in 1628; regulations regarding the procedure of trials by battle, followed by a list of questions occasioned by a controversy between gentlemen over precedence, and their answers; and a treatise of suggestions for furnishing the front ranks of companies with corslets, directions for admirals in time of war, and exhortations to the king to choose his captains and soldiers by worthiness and not by favor. The volume also contains a portion of Sir Thomas Parry's diary, which lists visits and dinners of members of his household to the Queen and other members of the French court, and a letter in which he describes his refusal to allow his house at Fontainebleau to be decorated for a religious procession. The documents are interleaved with papers, in a later hand, introducing each work.
